Final Project

For the final project I decided for my theme to be good versus evil (Christianity versus the Devil).

 For the first picture I decided to use a grass and bricks as the background. Both and grass were filtered with artistic cutout. I removed the huge rock which was on the grass. I added a picture of a little girl and duplicated the layer in order to get three girls which represent the triplets. The layers were filtered to match the grass and bricks I also decided to use the picture of Jesus reaching out which I scanned and I blended it in with the bricks.  I placed the table in the middle of the picture and placed the triplets behind the table. Table was also filtered with artistic cutout. On the table I placed a picture of three lollipops. I used snakes to represent evil. Snake layer was duplicated into seven layers in order to get seven snakes. Each layer was filtered with distort and twirl in order to make it look like each snake is moving differently. Three snakes were placed on the table and three were placed under the table. Snakes also represent the danger which the girls are in and the blended picture of Jesus reaching out represents their savior.

In the second picture I used the background of the landscape. I cropped out the Orthodox Church and duplicated the layer. I merged two layers together in order to get one layer. I wanted to give it a medieval look. Everything was filtered with artistic cutout. Hue/Saturation was edited in order to get the dark background. The same girl which was in the first picture was used in this picture to represent an angel. I gave her angle wing. She was also filtered with artistic cutout in order to match rest of the picture. I left the angel in color to make it stand out. I placed snakes which represent evil and made it look like they are going towards the church but they cannot pass the angel which is protecting it. At the end I added the lightning effect and placed it between the towers behind the angel. The lighting also makes the angel stand out.

For the second picture I used the photo of a clear blue sky as the background and texture.  For the center of the immage I used scanned Serbian icon of a saint. I scanned another picture which I found in one of the books of a woman crying and placed it in the bottom right in order to make it look like the saint is protecting the girl from evil dragon. I also placed three angels which are also pictured in the previous photos.  Every layer except the sky background was filtered with artistic cutout. I also added lightning with render lightning effect.

For the fourth and the last image I used the photo of the sky and filtered it with artistic cutout. I used the scanned photo of jesus reaching out which I also used in the first image. In this one he is more visible than in the other one. In the middle I used the photo of myself looking at him as he is reaching out to me. I mademyself look like im flying up with the wings. Everything in this image was edited with artistic cutout. I placed another  photo of me dressed up as death in order to make it look like jesus and the death were batteling for the one in the middle. The light was added behind Jesus in order to represent the good and make him stand out .

Fortuna Project

For this project i used images which represent the fortune.

For the first image I took a picture of my brother playing cards. I cropped my brother ,the cards, and the table with chips and refined the edges after which I blended it in with the sky background. At first the sky was blue but than I changed it to be dark in order to give it the night sceene. I changed the Hue/Saturation of the background layer in order to get the desired color of the sky. I blended the layer of my brother and filtered the layer in order to give it the darker look because his bright  red shirt was getting too much attention. Behind him I added four aces which represent his hand. Four aces were transformed and resized in order to fir it. I took a photo of him looking up at the sky in order to express that he is thinking about the money he is going to make with his luck but also he is looking up in the sky in order to thank the Fortuna, the Roman goddess of chance. For the money I used Serbian Dinars. I scanned the money and duplicated one layer until I had 56 different layers in order to have 56 different bills. Every money layer was resized and filtered with distort and twirl in order to give it the motion look.

For the second image I used the photo of an Christian Orthodox icon Sveta Petka which I scanned . I cropped out the figure and edited her in order to remove her Christian theme. I removed the cross which she was holding in her right hand. I filtered this layer with artistic cutout in order to gain the desired look for the goddess. In order to completely remove the cross from her hand and fix her hand up I used the clone tool. I used the sample color from an icon in order to get the background color for this project. I removed the saints halo and added four king cards. Since men are the one's known for playing cards and gambeling I decited to used cards of kings. The four cards layer was also filtered with artistic cutout in order to match the Fortuna. The cards and money which are pictured in the project represent the chance. I added the serbian money which was also pictured in the previous photo.I had eight different money layers. I resized money layers and gave it the motion look with the distort/twirl filer. Money layers were also filtered with artistic cutout in order to match the goddess and cards.Money was also transformed in order to get the desired angle to make it look like its flying out of the bowl with the eyes. The immage was flattened and curves were edited in order to get the final desired look.

Surreal Landscape

For this project I have created two different immages using Photos of different landscapes and photos of different buildings. Some of the buildings I taken picture are in Louisville Kentucky and some of the pictures were taken Last summer when I visited Serbia.

For the first image I took a picture of a rock which is located next to my house. I cropped the background of this picture and just left the gras and the rock. Instead of the original background. I used the picture of an old fence and the photo of the carpet in the classroom. I changed the colors in order to make it look like the sky.For this image i decited to use the photos of buildings and place them on the rock. Every building had to be resized in order to fit on the rock. I blended the layers of the buildings in order to make it look like they naturally belong on the rock. Since background looked littlebit cartoonish i decited to filter the buildings but i stil wanted them to have that real look to them. I drew the tribal looking sun and a cloud.the sun and the cloud were blended with the texturized bacground of the baby blue sky. The cloud layer was duplizated in order to get three more layers. I transformed each cloud layer in order to make it look different form the other. I set the opacity of the clouds to be from 63-73 with each cloud layer having different opacity. Since I drew sun with the pencil I changed the color to orange.Opacity of the sun layer was set to 91. Each cloud layer was filtered in order to get another cartoonish color which is supposed to make the background more acceptable. Each cloud was transformed and resized.

For the second image I used the photos of Sant Muchael Orthodox Church and I used the photo of building next to Spalding University on 4th Street. The buildings were cropped. The layers of the buildings were also filtered.I wanted to make this immage look like it was on another planet therefore I wanted to make the buildings look alien using colors which are not typically used. For the background I used the photo of blanket which made it took like a sky and I used Hue/Saturation in order to get a color which I pictured this planets sky to have. I used another texture photo in this image in order to make it look like this planed is getting some sort of light waives from something which is not pictured in the image.This texture background opacity was set to 14. Insted of the sun I used the photo of my soccer ball and edited it to make it look like the satelite which is followig this planet. Soccer layer ball was filtered and resized in order to make the size right for this image. Opacity of the soccer ball layer was set to 64. I also selected the outer glow for the soccer ball image.

Word Play Project

For this project my searching word was Victory. My  synonym was triumph and my antonym was defeat.

For the Triumph project i used the picture of the boxing refferee raising the winner's hand. I filtered the background in order to gain the positive atmosphere in the picture.  In the left corner of the picture i cut out coach who is pointing at the winner of the match. The coach was cut out of another picture and that layer was masked and refined. That layer was also filtered with artistic cutout. . The opacity of that layer was 95.  The picture of a winner holding the Serbian flag and the belt around his waist was also cut from another picture. This layer was also masked and refined. Afterwhich the layer was filtered with artistic cutout.  That layer was alos transformed and scaled in order to make it bigger than other two characters at the bottom of the picture. Behind this character I placed 10 layers of stars which are supposed to halp him be the focus of the picture.  Every star layer is set to different opacity. The opacity of stars varies from 25-33.  I used the picture of the Blaze boxing sign and tried to make it look like it belonged on the wall of the  background picture. That layer was also filtered, and refined. The text was Placed accross the picture  and it was arched with wrap text. Drop shadow, inner shadow, outer glow, inner glow were also added to the text.

For the Defeat project I used the same background picture as i did in the Triumph project. This time I focused the defeated boxer as the attention of the picture. The oicture of another boxer was cropped out, masked and refined, filtered and placed with the opacity of 25 . Another picture of the defeated fighter taking a pinch in the face was placed in the lower right corner of the picture. This picture was cropped , filtered, refined and masked. Another layer was added of the picture of a knocked out boxer laying on the floor. The pencil filter was used on this layer in order to make it look like it was drawn with the pencil. This immage was flattened and curved in order to get the black and white color which is supposed to represent the defeat and the saddness which the defeated one is experiencing . Image Color Comparison

Edited image by coloring different body parts in different collors. Afterwards used Hue/Saturation in order to get the last immage.

Fortune Cookie Project

During this project I combined pictures which represent the importance of a smile. I used picture of my daughter smilin as the main picture for both project 1 and project 2.

 In the first project I used picture of my daughter and picture of a texture and blended them together.I also took photos of a car , house, chain, and watch who represent things which people often think as important and i placed a smile to look over them which is supposed to represent the importance of the smile. Every layer was cropped , masked and filtered. For car and chain I used ink filter. For House I used artistic filter. Every layer's opacity was  adjusted in order to blend in . I've decited not to use text in project 1 because it was too much. At the end I flattened the immage and adjusted the curves.

For the second project I used same immage as the main immage. This time I placed this immage in the center of the photo. I used immage of the texture and blended it with the main immage. The texture was centered in the middle of the smile therefore the circular texture circles around her smile. I placed immage of flower over the eyes of my daughter to bring up her smile. The flower immage was filtered and blended. I used four new photos of my daughter and placed them below the main immage. All four layers of the smaller immages of my daughter were cropped and masked. Next thing i did was adjust the opacity of each layer in order for them to blend in right. I also added the text to this immage and  wrapped it in a half circle to go with the texture. At the end I ajusted the hue.

Self Portrait

The image above is a self portrait editen on photoshop. First thing i did was crop my face from a photograph. I used Magic Wand Quick Selection tool and Magiv Wand in order to crop out the face. I used two diffrent textures for my bacgrounds. First one was the image of a wood and second one was image of a plate. Wood is the main backdround. I used opacity of 80 percent for wood and 30 percent for plate image. I changed both of their colors . For the backgrounds i also used Smudge Tool. I duplicated layers of my face and edited each layer . Each layer was filtered and had different opacity's . Two layers of the face were transformed and scaled in order to make them bigger and have the image of face inside the face . In bigger headshot layer i used Color balance in order to add different colors to the immage. I added an immage of ortodox church to the bottom of my immage and edited it by filtering it .
